Credit Card Basics

By: Paul Colcleasure

Today's society seems to revolve around credit. There is seemingly no aspect of our lives that is not affected by credit in some form. The primary form of credit for consumers is the credit card. There are credit cards for just about anyone who applies. Business credit cards, student credit cards, credit cards for bad credit, credit cards for excellent credit and everything in-between.

Business credit cards offer many perks, especially to small business. The Citibusiness card offers a 'Thank You' network' that gives points towards many different items. These points can be redeemed for small items such as electronics and gift cards, or redeem them for large ticket items such as entire vacations! The cardholder makes the choice!

The Discover business card offers a generous cash back bonus that is very attractive to many small businesses. 5% Cashback Bonus on office supplies, 2% on gas and up to 1% on all other purchases.

For a business looking for a great low rate, the Advanta Business Platinum Rewards card is an excellent choice. Advanta offers a generous 5% cash back or travel awards, whichever you choose!

The American Express Platinum Business credit card offers 0% interest for 12 months and you earn points towards many business purchases. There are many more business credit cards available with a simple online search!

Student Credit Cards are an excellent way for college students to establish credit. The student credit cards usually carry a higher interest rate initially due to a lack of credit history. The Citi® mtvU™ Platinum Select Visa Card for College Students has one of the lowest interest rates of all the student credit cards. It also offers a points program that is unique to student credit cards. You earn points for every purchase, but you earn higher points for school related purchases. You even get points for paying on time and maintaining a good GPA! Couple this with an initial interest rate of 0% for 6 months and you have a great credit card for students! Discover offers the Student beach Card that has fewer perks than the Citi student card, but does offer an attractive 5% cash back bonus. There are many other student credit cards available.

Credit cards for bad credit come in two forms, secured and unsecured. With a secured credit card, you must initially make a deposit into a savings account that acts as security for your credit card purchases. If the bill is not paid, the savings account is debted for the amount outstanding. Amongst the best of the secured credit cards is the Bank Of America Secured Visa Platinum. Your credit line is equal to your deposit amount, from $300 to $10000. In the unsecured credit card market for bad credit, there are many choices but there are also many bad offers. The most legitimate, non-ripoff cards are from Orchard Bank and First Premier.

Citi® Professional(SM) Business Credit Card - Review

By: Sam Donaldson

Citi® Professional(SM) Business credit card - Review The folks at Citi do claim in their recent promotions for the Citi Professional Business Credit card that work and play can be a real balancing act and that the Citi Professional Business credit card can help you keep track of which is which. This may certainly be the case with this premium credit card that is loaded with advanced features and benefits. Cardholders get access to the Thank You Network and a no fee rewards program. Currently one receives 3 points for every dollar that is spent at restaurants, gas stations, auto rentals, and certain office supply merchants as long as you are not participating in a limited-time promotional offer. Certain types of purchases not eligible to receive the three points scheme and they include purchases made at warehouse clubs, discount stores, department stores and convenience stores. Also, your internet, catalog, mail order and telephone purchases are not eligible to receive three points unless the merchants appropriately identifies the particular transactions.

Citi does not determine whether merchants appropriately identify all transactions you could make on your Citi Professional Business Credit Card, as mentioned above. However, they do reserve the right to determine which purchases qualify cardholders to receive points under the "ThankYou" scheme. It is easy to earn up to 100,000 ThankYou Points during any particular calendar year as eligible purchases should appear on your monthly billing statements. Just keep your Citi Professional Business Credit Card account open and current and you will remain eligible to earn points through the entire life of the rewards program. The points are valid for 3 years from the end of the calendar year in which they are earned unless the rewards scheme is cancelled. If the program somehow gets cancelled you should receive a 30 day written notice and you also have up to 90 days to redeem your points. Personally I have trouble complaining about the possibility of perhaps having to take an emergency vacation (to use up points) should the need arise.

As far as the features go with the Citi Professional Business Credit Card to help you manage your business expenses they are second to none. You can easily categorize your monthly statements and do necessary breakdowns as needed. You will also receive quarterly and annual summaries as well. Also cardholders receive a one-of-a-kind online expense reporting tool that helps you to use your statement available online to customize reports for billing, employee reimbursements and much more. The Card also comes with access to dedicated customer service reps who can assist you and help with business matters concerning your credit card. The card also includes excellent fraud coverage protection.

Please note that at the time of this review all the information was accurate. If you intend to apply online for this credit card or any other please be certain to read the latest terms and conditions from the card's issuer.
